Postillion Hotels is opening its newest property on 1 September 2026: Postillion Hotel Breda Biesbosch. This is not simply the launch of a new congress hotel; it marks a deliberate expansion of the organisation into the south of the Netherlands.
General Manager Fleur Hüsken has been closely involved in the development of the new venue from the outset. For her, it represents both a significant step in her career and a milestone for Postillion Hotels. "It is something special to be part of building this," she says. "We are creating something that is genuinely new for the region and for Postillion itself."
The hotel is situated at a strategic junction near motorway interchange Hooipolder (A27/A59), where major traffic flows converge towards Breda, the Randstad – the Netherlands' main urban and economic conurbation –, Zeeland and the Belgian border. Yet the site is more than a transport hub. The landscape, the open space and, above all, the presence of the characterful former water tower ‘Veerse Toren’ give the location a distinctive identity. This tower, a landmark in the area for decades, will form the centrepiece of the new hotel concept.
With the arrival of Postillion Hotel Breda Biesbosch, the hotel and conference chain enters North Brabant for the first time. The region was chosen deliberately, both for its central position in the south of the Netherlands and for its strong connections to national and international routes.
The surroundings are just as important as the infrastructure. The hotel is set where city and nature converge. Breda is only a short distance away, while National Park De Biesbosch provides a green counterpart to the venue's professional character.
That balance between accessibility and atmosphere is what makes this location exceptional. At its heart stands the Veerse Toren, not only a visual landmark, but also a historical anchor point in the area. As part of the project, the tower has been carefully restored and integrated into the new design.
"Anyone driving along the highway can see the tower immediately," says Hüsken. "It has been part of the landscape for generations. Now it takes on a new role within a modern hospitality environment."
The hotel has been designed as a fusion of two worlds: preserved heritage and contemporary new construction. The Veerse Toren remains as the characteristic centrepiece, with an entirely new hotel built around it.
The new-build section will house approximately 150 hotel rooms, along with the venue's comprehensive conference and meeting facilities; totalling around 2,500 square metres of meeting space.

The architectural ambition is clear: to keep the past visible while creating a contemporary environment fully equipped for modern conference needs.
"What is happening here is essentially a dialogue between old and new," says Hüsken. "The tower tells the story of the place, while the hotel around it carries that story forward into the future."
This combination is designed to ensure the venue is not only functional but also has a clear identity of its own within the Postillion network.
With capacity for approximately 900 delegates, Postillion Hotel Breda Biesbosch is firmly focused on the professional market: congresses, multi-day meetings, training programmes and large-scale corporate events.
The venue has been designed to offer maximum flexibility. Rooms can be scaled up, interconnected or configured for smaller, more intimate gatherings, depending on the client's requirements.
According to Hüsken, the real strength of the venue lies in the combination of infrastructure, service and setting. "Our philosophy is Attention with Impact," she explains. "That means we genuinely look at what a group needs, and we make sure, as a team, that everything is exactly right, from arrival to closing session."
This attention to detail is reflected not only in the service, but also in the design of the spaces themselves. Natural light plays a central role, as do sightlines and the use of materials. A number of the meeting rooms look out over the water, bringing the surrounding landscape into the delegate experience.
"It is important that people do not feel confined to the indoors," says Hüsken. "The environment contributes to focus, calm and energy. You feel it in the spaces."
What sets Postillion Hotel Breda Biesbosch apart, according to Hüsken, is its degree of flexibility. The venue has been designed to accommodate a wide range of professional events, from a compact training session to an international congress, from a plenary session to an informal closing reception on the waterfront.
"Everything is possible," she says. "From a plenary session to a barbecue on the terrace by the water. The venue offers space for all kinds of events, large or small and everything in between. That is what makes it truly distinctive in the region."
This versatility allows programmes to be tailored precisely to an organisation's objectives. Outdoor spaces play a role in this, as does the connection with the surrounding area.
Postillion also sees opportunities to collaborate with regional attractions such as the city of Breda, National Park De Biesbosch and cultural hightlights in the area, creating possibilities to combine professional meetings with additional programming or multi-day packages. The idea is that an congress should extend beyond the hotel walls and into the region.
The venue offers strong international accessibility. Situated in the south of the Netherlands, it is close to the Belgian border and well connected towards Germany. That makes it an attractive choice for organisations operating across multiple countries or wishing to host international meetings at a centrally located venue.
The location places various European regions within easy reach, without being situated in a busy urban centre. The result is a rare combination of tranquillity, space and accessibility that is hard to find in the conference market.
With the planned opening in September 2026, the project is entering its final phase. The team is completing the last construction and fit-out works, while simultaneously building the operational team.
For Hüsken, it is an intense but exceptional period. "Everything we do is building towards one moment: the opening," she says. "And after that, the real work begins."
The focus is not only on the physical opening, but above all on the experience of the first guests. "The most important thing is that people walk in and immediately feel this is a special place," she says. "That they think: I want to come back here."
Postillion Hotel Breda Biesbosch presents itself not simply as a new venue, but as a genuine addition to the existing offering in the region. With space, flexibility and a clear connection to its surroundings, the hotel aims to set a new standard for the congress offering in North Brabant.
It is a place where history remains visible, where nature is tangible and where professional functionality is central. But above all, it is intended to be a place where people come together, work and experience and where those three elements are inseparable.
"If we achieve that," Hüsken concludes, "then we will have created something that truly sticks with people."
